Challenge

DANA in Mexico was facing a numerous challenges with their internal logistics. They had realized that they needed to boost their efficiency to meet their growing demands. Therefore, DANA saw the potential of the FlexQube concept and making some of their processes automated with our eQart. The transports between assembly, machining center, and metrology lab were all transported manually but had the right qualifications to be modernized.

Achievement

The process started with a meeting where DANA's processes, challenges, and requirements where discussed. In the meeting, they soon realized that the eQart was a perfect solution for DANA. Due to the modularity of the concept, DANA could create a cart in the right size for their aisles and with a customized top structure. Since the eQart can be programmed with multiple stops and routes, DANA saw the potential of using the solution in more than one process and area in the facility. Today eQarts are installed to transport different parts and materials between the assembly line, machining center, and metrology lab.

Solution

By moving away from manually handled transportations towards more automation and modernized transportations, together we were able to create a more efficient material flow within DANA's factory. This is a huge step for DANA because of their growing demands, the improved efficiency of their facility was a key challenge to correct. Further, the eQart has made processes simpler and more straightforward. DANAs facility in Mexico can now meet their current requirements and stay ahead of increasing demands.

DANA in Mexico, is a world-leading manufacturer and distributor of automotive front and rear axles. They had been looking to develop their intralogistics processes and increase internal efficiency. The eQart was an optimal solutions for DANA

Transportation methods play an essential role in a warehouse. It doesn’t only impact safety and ergonomics but also the efficiency of the material flow and overall profitability. DANA had been using manual transportation when transporting materials between different areas within their warehouse in Mexico. Manual transports are the most basic form of transporting materials, but also the least efficient and ergonomic. When discussing how they move materials, what processes they have, and their goals with FlexQube, the conclusion to add more automation was the optimal solution for DANA to meet their current orders and goals.

Our automated concept, the eQart, was implemented. Together a design, customized after DANAs materials, routes, and aisles, was developed.
